The Hands Know What They’re Doing. The Shadows Are Something Else Entirely.

Three pale hands rise from the ground in front of a red brick wall at night. Each one is arranged with careful, practiced intention — fingers positioned just so, the way you learned to do it as a child in a dark room with a flashlight. On the wall behind them, two enormous shadows: a rabbit, ears tall and alert, and a duck, beak open as if mid-sentence. The shadows are much larger than the hands that made them. A bare tree reaches across the top of the frame. A small headstone sits in the foreground. Nobody is explaining any of this. Rendered in a rich, atmospheric dark illustration style with deep burgundy, forest green, warm terracotta, and the particular quality of light that exists only at night in places that have decided to be interesting, this piece is eerie, playful, and completely impossible to look away from.
