He Found the Best Seat. He Brought a Drink. He Is Not Moving.

A rust-red fox perches on a wooden fence post, one leg dangling, a frothy beer held up toward a blazing orange sun like a toast to absolutely nothing and everything at once. The sky is all amber and gold. The earth is warm ochre. Somewhere below, green things are growing, and the fox has decided that is someone else’s concern today. Painted in a bold, expressive folk art style with thick impasto color and the kind of loose, confident brushwork that makes a piece feel handmade and alive, this is the painting for anyone who has ever earned the right to sit down and not explain themselves.
