He Is the Stocking. He Has Always Been the Stocking. He Was Made for This and He Knows It.

On a soft sage green ground with the warm paper texture of a vintage holiday card, a dachshund has emerged from the top of a red-and-white geometric Christmas stocking with the serene confidence of someone who has found his precise purpose in life and intends to occupy it fully. His front paws are folded over the white fur trim. His expression is satisfied. His body, long and perfectly proportioned for exactly this situation, fills the stocking from heel to cuff with the kind of anatomical inevitability that makes you wonder why it took this long for someone to paint it. The illustration is warm, rounded, and executed in the charming paper-cut style of mid-century holiday art — flat color, tactile texture, the graphic warmth of a 1950s Christmas card given to someone who happens to love dachshunds very much, which is everyone who has ever met one.
